Robinia is a durable wood species originating from Eastern Europe. The posts are widely used for fences and fencing. However, it is good to know that the bark of robinia contains certain substances that horses cannot handle well. What about these posts?
Bark and also the leaves of robinia wood contain certain substances to which horses react badly. In other words, if horses eat this, they can get quite sick. It is good to know that we peel and or sand our poles and thus the poles are stripped of the bark. But to be on the safe side, we recommend that you do NOT fence your horse pasture with peeled robinia fence posts.
